Charlie Barnard Recently resuming solo mode after leaving London group Nazca Plain, East London's Charlie Barnard brings out his 3rd album, Ivory Serpents and the Starving Tree, his first on fledgling independent Skyeyesea Records. Channelling the spirit of psychedelic princes like Syd Barrett and Robyn Hitchcock along with a hint of urban cowboy, Barnard's latest release takes a more serious approach than previous efforts brimming with biblical hallucinations and psychedelic pop delusions. Ivory Serpents and the Starving Tree is indeed a decidedly dark step forward, uncovering a rich tapestry of lyrics and melodies. As Charlie says, it's a bit "Gnarled voices, methedrine cowboys with junk smiles." For more information, please contact Kari at 12Cycles Music on kari@12cycles.com.
Analogue I/O Analogue I/O is a studio project created by Thom Smith encapsulating the sound of ambient tape music with a dark cinematic edge. His debut EP, Boat Club, was recorded in his own studio and has a real subtle beauty, capturing the images of distant landscapes and far away places, as is the inspiration behind the music. The featured tracks consist of looped riffs fused with digitally processed sounds. A Large array of instruments were used throughout the recording.
This Unique Museum The EP is a collection of tracks written by Interpol but re-arranged by Fitton, conserving only the lyrics and melody, creating an alternative landscape for the songs to breathe. This has produced an almost unrecognisable version of each track, which focuses on the songs skeleton rather than the original body of work. The idea for the EP began when This Unique Museum was commencing work on the first installment in the series and decided that Interpol were as far removed from the This Unique Museum sound as possible, embodying the original idea of the installments. The release is in no way an attempt to improve on the originals but simply present a diverse take on a simple set of rock songs. The EP will only be available in a digital format from all good digital retailers.
This Unique Museum The release is the first in a line of albums which are being recorded and uploaded to the bands website every week until more than a dozen tracks have been completed. This will allow visitors to the site to give their feedback to the albums contents before it's release. So in effect, allowing the fans to create the album along with the artist. The release will only be available on CD and from all good digital retailers.
This Unique Museum The EP is a collection of tracks written by The Killers but re-arranged and reinterpreted by Fitton to still capture the lyrical essence and unique resonance of the band whilst peeling back the layers of the song to create and almost unrecognisable version of each track save the lyrics and melodies. The idea blossomed when This Unique Museum added the track Mr Brightside to their set list. The song received such large appreciation that further track by The Killers were added and the EP "Installment One: A Killer, A Murder, A Mystery..." was born. The release is in no way an attempt to improve on the originals but present alternative take on an already perfect set of pop songs. The EP will only be available in a digital format from all good digital outlets.
This Unique Museum The album was the first to be released on Skyeyesea Records and is a melting pot of beautiful beautiful acoustic guitar and trans-electro beats. The release not only touches on the softer side of life but is a wash with a blissful melancholic glow. This being the case it comes as no surprise to learn that during this time This Unique Museum had also achieved a much desired position of being one of London XFM's best unsigned bands.
